Circular office
2021
Since 2016 they have been making handmade peanut butter, in 10 different flavors, in the most natural way possible. No palm oil, no extra sugar or salt, just peanuts and a little coconut oil. That’s the story of the Peanut Butter Shop.
Yet the Peanut Butter Shop crossed our path for a very logical reason. There are several greenhouses in Aalsmeer where this handmade peanut butter is made. The circular office of these peanut owners, as they jokingly call themselves, was recently completed in one of those greenhouses.
And then the circle was logically complete again.
A company with passion. For the product, but also simply a company with a passion for its own business. Add togetherness, a sustainable view, and a good dose of enthusiasm, and you have the elements to make a circular project possible. This special project was realized together with the Studio Holgersson.
The project is characterized as a puzzle assignment: which parts are available, how do all the parts fit together? From there, with the found available, circular materials, the final design was made.
The basis is a shelving unit, which had become superfluous in one of the adjacent greenhouses. The various frames come from different locations, sometimes literally taken from containers, and form a mosaic of light.
And the used hollow-core slabs were remnants from the neighbourhood. As Michiel Vos puts circular use into words: “A window frame that you fish yourself out of a container is fantastic!”. The design is a box within a box, with the inner box slightly rotated relative to the outer shell. As a result, different spaces have been created in the four corners, each with its own function. One such space is designed as a small square, the heart of the office, including a stand and canteen with kitchen where employees can come together. An extra floor has also been taken into account in the design.
